Good job Dan!
Thanks Keith. Wish we had a time machine and could go back to the days we worked at Camera Barn during college and go out shooting in NYC.

Thanks Lynn. I'm hopeful the publisher will recoup their expenditure, and most of all that I can share the photos with more people and fellow photographers.

I got my copy this week. Besides the photographs (I already knew they were great), I need to compliment the publishers for putting this together. The layout, and the printing and binding are very high quality. This book is very enjoyable. Everyone should own a copy.

Nice, I liked it, or what you showed. I'll be in Mexico with my Balda Hapo 66e next week, maybe I can get a few like yours. Thanks for posting; you are an inspiration.

Hey Dan,
I just wanted to ask if you are getting something financial out of having a book published. Of course you could argue that by knowing your work people will ask for prints etc... But I was wondering if you get something out of the book itself?
Thanks

Thanks! And Philippe, Pres of inkBooks thanks you, too! Philippe, Vitor & Kallie did the editing, layout and printing supervision. I of course shot the photos, developed the film, scanned & PhotoShopped the photos. I feel very lucky that it all went well -- because there are so many areas that have to be done just so.

Sounds like you're going to a great photo spot. Wish I could come along.

chikne, nothing financial -- I shot and developed 1,500 rolls over a 5-year period -- and there are 500 copies less review copies that are being sold at cost -- you do the math. If Philippe, Vitor, and Kallie can break even, and have the funds to help another photographer by printing their book -- and if I can share my work, and show people what I saw -- then that is about as much as can reasonably be hoped for. Since the age of 4 I liked drawing and art. And since the age of 12 I loved photography -- walking around, seeing things, taking photos, making art, developing -- the marriage of art, science, emotion and the world around us -- now, many decades later, I've grown a bit and still feel driven. I wish it were possible to earn just enough money to do this full time. My days are numbered -- I'd like to make them count. Cheers.

While you were out shooting I was going through all the drawers behind the counters, and in the back rooms, searching for Nikon rangefinder stuff the 32nd street store. Spent days looking through everything at Wall Street Camera also.
I think I touched everything in both stores. I bought a lot, boxed Nikon lens caps, finders, straps, cable releases, close up attachments, you name it, and no one seemed to know they were all there, most hidden in the "wrong" drawers, but right because no one sold them.
I was always miffed that Bobby Olden would not let anyone search, although such treasures they sold me! Olden had one price for everything, too high much of the time, but sometimes ridiculously low.

Such a strange Word to use 'Decent'
It's rather an off putting word...![]()
I used the word decent because the previous photos of the book on the publisher's site were taken with an iPhone. The cover looked like it was a murky navy-black. A lot of people saw those photos, so I wanted to make a distinction that the new photos were better. Yeah, I have a strange vocabulary -- some might call it Word

Well, the imagery contained in your book is certainly above a lot of other things that can be found around.
I can't say that I agree with your logic though.

Dan, these are all really cool photos. Kind of stuff I love and try to do.

And I figured I'd put my money (75 cents to the dollar) where my mouth is - just picked up a copy. Looking forward to seeing it!
