I recently acquired this lens and noticed some interesting issues with it. I wanted to check here before proceeding as it may not be worth the time and effort to address it with a repair.
The lens is in pretty amazing condition except for the aperture mark ring is loose. I've included photos of that for reference.
Is this an "easy fix?" I'm planning on bringing this in for a CLA anyways but was curious if a part is missing that makes it loose?
Also, this odd filter ring is on the front. It's Marked "VI LIFA S 39." I can't remove it and even when separating the lens barrel with the focus barrel it won't budge.
Finally, that lens/barrel separation is something I came across on the internet as a sort of feature? Here is the article I found on it.
It appears this lens does not allow the focusing grip to come out as well as that remains attached to the lower portion but in that article it shows that the focus grip should separate with the front element. This means I can't see if the serial numbers match. Any suggestions?
I guess my main question is, is it worth dealing with all of these little issues? I paid about $550 for this which seemed like a reasonable deal. Any guidance would be wonderful. Thanks for your time!
