Some Qs about Nikon Coolscan 8000 ED

I use the exact same sandwich approach (1mm AN glass on bottom, 3mm on top) with the medium format holder on my Nikon 9000 and have no problems. I tested this configuration first and found no resolution loss ...and I am a certified pixel peeper!

Thanks! That's good to know. I hope Nikon 8000 is the same in this regard...

Sorry to receive an old thread but I'm curious about the Focal Point glass because I'm getting unsharp edges with 6x6 on the 869S.

If one uses two pieces of glass to make a sandwich - can the clamps be snapped shut? Or do they need to be modified to allow this?

Also, are there alternatives to the Focal Point glass? It seems to be a pretty expensive affair to get it delivered to Europe.

Thanks very much in advance
Philip

No clamps - the weight of the glas takes care of holding the film. Works fine with 120, but with 135 I prefer to not use the glas (not really needed, as opposed to 120).
Had mine shipped to Austria, costs were OK, compared to the alternatives.

Thanks very much Peter, that is very helpful to know. I have seen old postings about rebuilding the 869S holder but I would only go down that route if it were absolutely necessary to ensure flat scans.
