One of my favourite aspects of RFF is the way camera fondling and photography are not mutually exclusive here. The gallery is full of amazing pictures, loads of them taken by people who will just as happily discuss nuts and bolts as creative decisions.
So, to approach the point - since I started posting pictures I have been trying to predict which ones of mine will attract lots of viewings and favourable comments. Sometimes I can be spot on but more interestingly I can be totally wrong. Recently, I have been cutting down the number of images in my gallery and I sometimes look carefully at the ones with few viewings and think "no - I'm leaving it there, I'm fond of that picture even if only 3 people looked at it in 6 months".
Does anyone else have this experience?
Does the collective mind of RFF (if there is one) have a preference for certain types of pictures? Or is there an element of luck - should you post pictures when the USA is awake, for example?
Would anyone care to join this ramble?
