Well,

I received my new 50mm 1.4 in chrome today and I must say I am in looooove. I shot these on fuji superia 100 and had them processed and scanned at Best Buy. So, I did not really get a chance to scan them myself. On a side note, there is just something about film that digtal cannot do. It must be the grain or something. But, I am still in love with film.

I am not surprised that shots from that lens/camera look nice. I am, however, quite surprised that they look that nice after being scanned by Best Buy. Did you do some post processing to get them that way? Did you have to clean a lot scrathces? Just curious since I will be on vacation in Seattle in a month and will be shooting film - just sent the R-D1 to Epson. This seems like it might a nice alternative to scanning 20 or so rolls. I can spend time scanning the ones I like but still have a digital version of all for the boss (wife) to show around 🙂

All I did was adjust contrast and color to my liking then a tad of the unsharp mask. No cleaning of the negs was needed.

Jorge,

a) Is the focusing working well?
b) Any problem with the hood not staying extended?
c) Do you know if this is optically the same as the LHSA 50 Lux?

Focusing is a charm. smooth and even.
The hood stays extended. You pull it out and rotate it to lock it in place.
I believe it is the same formula as the LHSA lux asph.

Here is a B&W version

I too love the second shot in the first post. I like the original color version too! Great captures.
This WILL be my next lens! And in chrome!

I really like the fourth image. The background is very smooth.

ywenz - Only one person I know (Tom Abrahammson) has extensively used the 50 ASPH and the Nokton 50 as well as the earlier non-asph lux. In his experience, while the Nokton 50 is very, very good, the 50 ASPH is in a league of its own. The Nokton 50 is better glass than the earler non-asph 50 lux, he suggests. Erwin Puts agrees.
