Somebody please buy this

That same ad keeps showing up on the Dallas Craigslist. It has been reposted at least three times over the past few weeks.

Last year I responded to a similar ad for a Leica M9 (for $2,500 or close to that). The e-mail replies had some weird story about how the seller had to leave town suddenly, but I should check out this really cool consignment shop's web site, without even a word on whether or not the camera even really existed or was at that shop. It is just a low-life marketing technique.

Ha! I love those scammers. This one sounded in the realm of possibility, but a$2500 M9 is too good to be true! 😉

Just sent an e-mail, we'll see. I'm not shooting film right now, but I keep hoping I'll run into a gently used Ikon ZI for a good price.

Hello, I am from Zimbabwe and I am being forced to leave the country. I have a great deal of wealth that I cannot keep in the bank here because the government will surely take it. If you give me your SS number and account information I will deposit $1,000,000.58 into your account. You can keep half once I ask for it back.

Seems legit.

This is well known scam scheme that shows up often in my email. In order to get access to the funds, the scammer asks you to deposit money to help him/her to leave the country, or something like that. It stinks.

I was just teasing guys. But yeah there are a lot of scams on craigslist but also a lot of great deals as well. If you use common sense you can usually figure out which ones are scams pretty quickly.

So hopefully someone actually scored that lens.

lol I'm used to these types of comments on CL.

Ive never bought anything on craigslist but I did sell a PSP and nearly got a twin reverb for my xbox 360 back when that was the hotness (wish I had lol).

best thing to do is ask for a timestamped picture. like, have him hold a piece of paper with your email on it next to the item in question.

I havent seen any good deals on DFW craigslist since I left town. Wanted to buy a rollei this guy had but he never got back to me if he still had it after the initial email.

My problem with CL is the e-mail address provided in the ad. I've copied and pasted those impossible addresses and sent questions and requests to no avail... Oh, well... it's not like I want to buy anything these days.
