...A video in which someone pours a cup of water on his Pentax K10D and then continues to shoot with it. I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this or has a link to it.

Thanks,
Jared

Anyone mind if I bump this once? A redundant question I know...

I am very curious to see this and I am certain I saw some mention of it here but multiple searches have turned up nothing.

I have not seen that, but I did find the following quote on the DPR Pentax forum:

"Oh and I know it won't be able to stand water from a running tap or shower, I saw the video of someone washing their Olympus E-1 under the tap then a few days later complaining it wasn't working (poor bloke)."

I wonder if that was covered by the warranty?

One of the K-10D's touted features is its weatherproofing. It could stand a bit of rain or survive splashes. I have a K-10D and it does look to be true. However, Pentax have not (or have they?) released equally weatherproofed lenses. No point in going out of the rain shooting with a water-resistant camera but with a lens which will be harmed with water.

The new DA* lenses are supposed to be weather sealed. I have the DA* Series 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL IF SDM (full name 😛 ) on preorder at Amazon. It was supposed to ship at the end of May and now they are saying August. We'll see how that goes.

"...tightly sealed, weather-resistant and dust-resistant construction to enhance durability for use in rain or dusty conditions."

Hopefully it lives up to the hype. I have never known Pentax to fudge their specs enough to notice so I'm expecting it to be damn good. The new DA* lenses are supposed to compete with Canon's L lenses...

Besides, I have used both my M 50mm f/1.4 and my 100mm f/4 macro lenses in rain and they have fared well. I kept them under my coat for the most part, but they certainly got wet.
