He deleted his account, he must have been sure of his decision. So many nice sonnar images (by our skilled photographers).
When's Brian coming back? ☹️
He deleted his account, he must have been sure of his decision.
Brian’s freely given information and opinions were one of the main reasons to visit RFF. I’ve learned a lot about those wonderful Sonnar lenses from him. I miss him.A very unfortunate loss. When Brian left a lot of valuable knowledge and assistance walked out the door. We have no one I am aware of with the depth of theoretical and "hands on" knowledge and experience with lenses in particular and cameras in general. I respect that he stood for his principles but regret the cost to us. I hope some sort of compromise can be found where we all think we got the biggest slice of the pie.
I haven’t seen any of the referenced altercations, to me it’s just a mystery, I really wonder what happened. The loss of his posts hurts a lot, there were so many useful tidbits. Like others have said, I learned a lot from him.I guess I'll never know the reason why he was compelled to leave, but I just can't imagine what it was....I know we have disagreements here at RFF, but they have almost always been incredibly civil. The few defections I can recall were a combination of improper self righteousness by a super tiny contingent of members and an unfortunate fragile ego of the departed. My sense is that maturity and a cooling period would have remedied the situation better than pre-situation..
Only exception might have been the neo- nazi. But all others were tragically unnecessary.
