Something sad (and happy) happened tonight.

One of my oldest friend is very ill and could not be as active as he would like. He decided to give me his Sony a-100 with two zooms, and we ended up letting me using the camera until he recovered. Honestly felt sad cause I rather not in procession of the camera in this way, then again I am exicted cause I have a new toy.

At the end of the conversation, I told him I would like to use some manual lens on it (it come with two cheesy plastic Sony Zooms) and he is OK with me putting a split-image ground glass in the camera (if there is one).

What should I do now? Would like to use some manual lens, and the only adpater I found is a M42, is there such a thing as a fast (f/2 or less), M42 lens?
(No, not the ZS)

Any advice welcome.
