Well-known
There was an earlier thread on Sony DSLRs in general. I spent a weekend shooting the new Alpha 350 with Zeiss 16-80 F3.5-4.5. One example from my SLR gallery:
(I checked - he was breathing)
My impressions are generally positive:
- 14mp gives you lots of real estate to work with
- the interface is very functional and intuitive
- the tilting screen plus live view is very useful for unobtrusive shooting
- pretty good optical viewfinder
- compact body (about the width of an M8)
- clean files with nice grain on night shots at ISO 800
- accurate exposure and dynamic range optimization to preserve highlights
The lens is also great, but something faster is clearly needed for reducing DOF and night shooting.
Cheers,
Kirk
