So, aside from the cost, what camera would you choose. The Nikon DF or Sony A7r?

I think, at this point, I'm going with the Sony.
 
A7R without a doubt.
I don't own any vintage Nikon glass or have fuzzy memories of using FM's of the past.
I have some Leica M and some SLR lenses i'd like to play with, and that's what the appeal is to me.. it's a digital back for me to play with.
 
Disregarding cost and I get the complete Nikon lens lineup? Hmmm.

I want the A7r for M Glass.
 
Does the ability to use Leica M lenses the best selling point? or is it something else??

I already have some Leica glass: a 35 summicronm a 50 summicron and a 90 Tele Elmarit ( I find the 90 Tele Elmarit hard to use on the M2 and M4-P.)

Then to be able to put my 300mm Nikkor f4.5 ED.......!
 
Nikon DF. I really want one. But the focus direction of Nikon lenses is so annoying seeing how it's reversed from Leica and Canon. If Canon did something similar for FD lenses or even EF lenses, I'd be all over it.
 
Despite too many AF-S and MF nikkors, plus a D300 and D700, I'd go with Sony. I'm a Sony Nex convert (5N & 6) - absolutely fabulous for hiking backpacking and just everyday use. So the A7/r's compact size, ability to use all the MF lens adapters (Leica, Olympus OM & Pen F, plus of course Nikkors) etc. all add up to a system that fits my current needs.

Without the A7/r's I might have looked seriously at the DF but then again the D610 would have probably been a strong competitor.

Interesting times - and boy are we spoiled
 
I have a D700 and a slew of AFS and AI Nikkor lenses. I don't see any significant advantage to getting a DF.

OTOH, I have quite a few M-mount lenses that I would like to mount on a full frame digital body.

So for me, the A7R is an easy choice over the DF.
 
I have both Nikon F and M/L mounts, I prefer to be able to use whatever I want on the same body. I probably wont get either, but if I had to choose, I'd probably do the Sony.
 
Easy. Nikon DF. I already have some of the best Nikon glass. Second, Sony? I got rootkitted a decade ago and will NEVER buy Sony again.
 
Personally, I think the Sony is ugly. I much prefer turning the external knobs on the DF to navigating through pages of digital menus. I do have a lot of Leica glass, but then I also have a lot of Leica cameras, which work perfectly well. There is a great variety of reasonably priced lenses for the Nikon, and I also like the fact that I can shoot all of these lenses without needing an adapter. Also, I don't currently own a digital Nikon, so the DF fills an empty slot.
 
I'm more interested in the Nikon, for a few reasons. First, I need to have my choices of lenses limited. With the Sony, I start chasing too many lens possibilities (M, Nikkor, LTm, M42... on and on). With the Nikon, I only really have Nikkors to chase around. Secondly, I suspect that the Sony is going to be found problematic with wide angle lenses. Just considering the Sony's full-size sensor rectangle being so much closer to the lens mount makes me wonder if wide angle lenses are going to be a problem (the blurry edge problem). And finally, I like the idea of having fewer pixels packed onto that full-frame sensor - 16Mp are PLENTY.

I don't envision either of these cameras being my go-to kit for street photography, so I don't really care about the size.
