Yes, in fact IMO the NEX-5n is much, much better in terms of handling with a M lens with manual mechanical focus and aperture, instead of the hopeless focus-by-wire and the tiny wheels for control. Still not as good as a RF when it comes to focus though.

Yes, I do all the time with my Nex-7. My VC lenses are much sharper than the Sony's. Yet the Sony lenses are better for quick action. They are good lenses, it is just that the VC lenses are better, worth the little extra effort and make better use of the outstanding Sony sensor.
I bought the Nex-7 specifically because of its versatility and acuity.
Interesting comment. I find the opposite with my Sigma lenses. I compared my Sigma 19 and 30 with my Voigtlander 25/4 and 35/2.5. I'm no lens tester, but the Sigmas clearly out-performed to my eyes. Sharper and more contrasty, though quite a bit warmer. I prefer the AF lenses.

If you want a NEX + M Lens, get a GXR instead. Much nicer focussing aid, much better ergonomics, superb image quality.
I really can't like the GXR because of its woefully outdated EVF and slow read/write speed. The IQ is nice and there's no red corners, but the new NEX cameras have OLED viewfinders and shoot 10fps.

After trying Olympus OM and Pen F lenses, and then moving to Leica glass on my NEX-7, I was kinda underwhelmed with all of them compared to the Sigma 19 and 30, and the Sony 50. These lenses are incredibly sharp (really are too sharp for their asking price
), so I just stick with them.
Can't beat having autofocus when you want it too.

Funny, but I've kinda come to the same conclusion - the more I use my NEX-7 again after a several month layoff from photography, the more I appreciate my Sigmarits over any of my MF glass. I'm waiting for the new Sigma 60/2.8 which will bump the OM 50/1.8 out of the bag, and then I think I'm pretty much done messing with my NEX glass kit... unless the upcoming Zeiss 32/1.8 Planar proves irresistible.

I'm playing with a new NEX-7, and tried my 28mm Elmarit ASPH last weekend. In some contexts, cyan vignetting was visible, if I looked. I might need to fire up Cornerfix, although it seems like a lot of trouble. I tried my old Elmar 135mm f4.0, and it worked like a charm and looked great. It's an underappreciated lens. I think I need to fool with the fringing feature on manual focus a bit more. I didn't feel as confident about nailing focus and putting it exactly where I wanted it as I generally can with M cameras. All in all, I really like the NEX though--enough to order a 32mm Zeiss Touit. I think that, the kit zoom and a Sigma 19mm (which I bought with the camera and really like), as well as occasionally playing with the Leica glass and some Nikkor AIS lenses will do me.
I'm wondering whether these digital cameras' ability to correct lens weaknesses with firmware takes away some of the thrill of really stellar glass like Leica and Zeiss? Anybody here know enough about that to comment intelligently without starting a flame war? That Sigma 19mm looks pretty nice with RAW files converted by DxO, as does the kit zoom, although I haven't really tried to show up the flaws on either; just shooting around so far. I'm not looking to dump my Leica and Nikon gear, but I have to say that this little camera has given me a more open mind.

90% of the time I have a 28mm Summicron on the NEX-6. The results are so much better than the kit lens, but there are times when autofocus is nice.
I also use a Canon FD 500mm f8 on it quite a bit.

Akiva - I use my nex's (5N & 6) with loads of different lenses incl Leica M's. That's the whole fun, but of course YMMMV - that said I'm pretty sure you'll have a blast
