Next week l pick up, from a friend who owns a camera clinic and store, a Canon 50mm 1.4, 'Japanese Summilux', in lovely condition, l plan to use it on my Leica M2, which also lands next week:) Anyone else use or used this combo, or just used the lens:D

The Canon LTM 50/1.4 is probably my favorite non-Leica 50mm lens. Here’s a pic taken with the lens on a Leica M240. Wide-open.

I had one but sold it. Nice lens but with a very long focus throw.

I just cleaned my 1,8 which I find to be one of the nicest lens' for my film M. I have never owned the 1,4 but would like to try one out at some point.

Enjoy it !
It's a Lovely lens... beautifully classic 'look', a delcate sharpness with creamy oof
it's only drawback ... slightly big but Not overbearing by any means

silly me sold mine but in reality i should have kept it for it's sheer low light capability and inexpensive cost for a 1.4

very nice Helen, lovely image

thanks for all the replies ladies and gentleman, l will let you know how l get on with the lens when it arrives or rather when l pick it up this week

My first fifty for a rangefinder was the Canon 50mm f1.4, I liked it quite a bit, but found the 1 meter minimum focus kind of hampering and ended up replacing it with the Nikkor-sc 50mm f1.4, which was one of the best 50's I've ever owned and with some modification would focus down to 0.7 meters to boot.
