soon to own a summicron

"Glass has many cleaning marks on front and rear. "

Hope you like "glow"! ;)

Seriously though, I hope its better than it sounds except those pics show that glass looking quite hazy. Definitely get a hood.

I was lucky and nailed a $200USD 50/2 Summicron DR from someone on photo.net. The thread of the front piece is stripped and locked into place so I cannot use it with a Visoflex. I was concerned but seller offered money back if I was not satisfied and it came with the close-up googles too. Works great and is sharp as heck!

it's a crap shoot. most of the time pics don't show it like it really is.
looks better than it is - looks worse than it is...if it's bad, i'll send it off to arax for a polish and it will still come in under 200 bucks.

Eh, the worst that could happen is that you'll have to send the lens in for CLA/element repolishing/recoating...at that price, I think it's worth it.

Now if only I could find one of these in screwmount...

Very nice Joe.

I have bought some things from Igor before, his website is worth a look every once in a while as he has some real bargains on there. Some of his prices are just very good, I don't know why.

I would like a description of the lens when you get is so that I can judge Igor's grading system. This says many coating marks, I wonder how many and how sever. He was pretty accurate in describing a lens that Francisco bought I believe.

The Collapsible Lens.

From the Golden Age of cameras.

Well Done! From the photo's, the marks do not look too bad.

Arax can certainly take care of it.

A camera dealer also let me know that he has used a product designed to "fill-in" scratched coatings on eye-glasses. I plan on trying it out.

Anyone here try that?

i think the ad said it was a 7 or 8 out of 10 cosmetically with many cleaning marks on front and rear.
the canon 35/1.8 has shown me that marks on the rear are of little consequence.
will soon know about the front i guess.

i too would love to know about that lens fluid that fills in the eyeglass lenses, seems to good to be true.

anyone know the filter size off hand?
joe

i was thinking about a hood.
i like the metal cameraquest hoods in 40mm and they also have 39mm hoods.
black or silver...i'm thinking silver this time around.

The 39mm hoods sold by heavystar and americaneagle_camera (I believe thats the ebay name) are excellent quality for a lot less.
