Source for a Pentax MX Focusing Screen

Hello everybody.

I now have a focusing screen heading my way. Actually I have a new Pentax MX body heading my way. It's cosmetically in mint condition and it just went through a CLA (with documents to prove it). I started out just looking for another beater body on eBay just to get the focusing screen but came across a beautiful example at $85 with just a few minutes left. I went into a kind of trance-like state and I bidded. I got it for $100. I'm not sure if that's a good price or not but it's cheaper than a new Bessaflex.

Now the question is, what do I do with my old body with the bad focusing screen?

Congratulations on the new purchase. I hope it works well. It might be good to keep the other body as a back up - either to use or for spares for the good body.

I wish this were always the case. I have a supply of spare SC21 screens which came trying to get some of the others. The box may have said something different but the screen inside has been the standard one. I suspect that someone in the past has changed theirs, put the normal one in the box for safe keeping and someone else has sold it on not knowing the difference. 😱

My newly purchased Pentax MX arrived today. Its very nice. There is a minor ding that wasn't mentioned in the description but otherwise it is near mint. The ding is on the rear so nobody is going to notice it. What a difference a good focusing screen makes! I can't wait to go out and shoot with it.

As it turns out, Eric Hendrickson was the person who did the CLA on it recently. The seller included all the paper work with the camera.
