source for clear red plastic

Never had this happen before. I was just given a 1940s Detrola and was cleaning it. As soon as I touched one of the red windows in the back, it crumbled. I don't know what it was made of, but it was brittle as it could possibly be. Anyone know of a good source of transparent red flexible sheet plastic? 1/16 inch thick would be nice. SOmething as thin as a soda pop bottle would be acceptable, although I can't think of anything that comes in a clear red bottle. I was thinking of going out to look at tabs for hanging files, because I know those come in red plastic, but I'm not sure they would be big enough (it has to be big enough to cut a 1/2 inch diameter circle from it).

If something thinner would work you could pluck the red gel from a cinegel swatchbook.

Thanks, but I just found a red plastic clip board. It is 1/8 inch thick, but I think I can use it in this case. The Cinegel swatchbook sounds like it would be good for other cameras though, and I will buy one when they are in stock again.

I suppose it is weird, because I have been collecting and restoring cameras for years, but I've never had a red window break on me before.

Haven't run any film through it yet, but I replaced those red windows with lens repair tape from an auto parts store. You know, the tape you put on your taillight when it gets cracked and you don't want to buy a new one? It looks ok, and seems like it will be easy to read through, but we will see.

Thanks anyway, but I have come up with several inexpensive alternatives that I think will be better. My local office supply store has dark red transparent clip boards, there are transparent red CD jewel cases, and I remembered that inexpensive miliitary-style flashlights come with red filters. Then, of course, there is also this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...08157&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab=Bidding I can probably cut a dozen out of that.
