Source for film?

7DayShop when I'm not in a hurry because, while shipping usually takes a week or so, they tend to be the cheapest source of the films I like; Ag-Photographic or Silverprint when I need the film in a hurry, or need chemicals to go with it.

I understand XP2 is easier for traditional printing (no orange mask) but really, how many people are willing to make traditional wet prints, but don't develop at home?

You may be surprised.

I am one of those who standardize my development method and prefer to do all the adjustments in the darkroom. Basically I'm the opposite of those guys who tweak their negatives via development.

So since my development "recipe" has pretty much become a routine, if I could find a machine that will develop my rolls to my specification, I'd buy one so I don't have to do it by hand.

XP2 fits that plan perfectly.

Yes, the PX 135 is still available at decent prices - B&H, Adorama, and (I think I remember) Freestyle are still comparable. So is some other shop that sells on ebay. The PX-120 is a different story. I suspect the patter will follow for 135 at some point... maybe sooner than any of us would like.

The fact that it's still in stock this long after the announcement of discontinuance (never mind the many many months of rumors and speculation that it had already been discontinued) makes me think there won't be a big run on this. And that it was probably also the right move to discontinue it, as sad as it makes me.

HIE on the other hand was sold out in a day or two after it was announced it was discontinued. Tri-X 320 in 120 was also pretty quick if I recall correctly.

You could be right. In terms of 35mm PX, I'm surprised too. Right now almost everyone who has any is selling around $6 each . Pretty much the normal price. It wasn't that way for 120. Maybe the 35mm will just sell out and be gone without the price-gouging. But now that I think about it, the legitimate sellers just sold out their stock at normal prices and it was "others" on "the auction site" that jacked up the price and seem to keep jacking them higher. I guess htat's supply-and-demand at work, though.

And I can't agree more with your final statement. It makes me sadder because I said that when 4x5 was discontinued, then when 120 was discontinued, and now one last time.

i develop alot of xp2 in rodinal. but when i tried to develop this " 100 ROLLS 35MM 400 135-24 B&W FILM Kodak BW400CN ILFORD", i found alot of fogging, which suggests to me that either this isn't XP2 or the film has expired. Unfortunately there wasn't any packing or expiration dates on the canisters.

Did you try having one roll developed in c-41?

I'm asking because somebody else on this forum had recommended this Ebay source as a good way to get inexpensive XP2. However, the large minimum order quantity has put me off ordering so far.

Adorama, B&H, I buy some every time I get paid and stock up. I use to buy local from a mom and pop lab. They would sell me expired film very cheap, Trix, Tax and Porta. But they went under.
