Hi,

Kind of a two-way thingy here :)

I'd like to see if anyone near Orange County is ever willing to get together for a friendly walk about and shoot with RF's.

Also.. I'm part of a local photo club here, and we need more members. I'm pretty much the last one shooting film, would be nice to have a few on my side ;) We meet once a month, on the second saturday at the Cowgirl Cafe in Santa Ana. We've been around for about a year and half, still kind of getting our feet wet in terms of critiques and becoming better photographers, but our field trips thus far have all been a blast.

Feel free to contact me pm or email :)
Jano

jano, you're two years late. I moved from Orange to AZ. Loved the shots of Laguna but how come no beach volleyball? Where were you guys when I was looking for someone to shoot with and have a good burger at the Cowgirl? Story of my life.

i would be interested....esp. if you and your crew make it down here to Long Beach :) i'm sans car....i ride my bike everywhere and pull a trailer with all my camera gear when i have to do location lighting.

Gerry... :p Come back, you know you want to! All our summer field trips were in the wrong places (march airfield base, pasadena, etc) -- during summer, we shoulda been at the beach where it was nice and cool and girls' beach volleyball :D As I said, we're still sort of learning the ropes ;)

Russ: you don't sound very southern-californian. EVERYONE has a car.. wtf?! :p PM'ed you with other info.

Oh.. bump ;) For anyone else!

bump for weekend crowd. :p Too bad it's not as interesting as the nude thread.

Hmm.. that gives me ideas.. >:]

I live in Santa Ana so I may be able to meet with your group sometime if I can get away from my school work long enough. Does your group meet at this cafe and then drive to a location to take pictures or is it more of a hang out and discuss photography type meeting?

I live in Riverside and commute to Los Angeles every other day during rush hour... a secondary stop in the OC?.. it's like a triangle of hopelessness-- I'd be on the road 6+ hours stuck on the 15, 60, 91 with all its fires, accidents, dams breaking, and 'other such things like this,' etc. But, it does sound interesting... Hm.

I live down here too! And I ride my bike everywhere. I try to keep my Oly Stylust or my cheapo plastic Pano camera in jersey.
I'll look into that club.
Anyone go to www.prophotoirvine.com? I work a few blocks away. I also have relatives and work weekends in Laguna Beach

anyone here happen to be from the Irvine Photographer's Exchange? meets every 3rd thursday at the Irvine Fine Arts Center? I've been to a few meetings and it's a neat group of people....

Our next meeting is this saturday at 8am. Field trip will be the Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades (near sunset blvd & PCH).

cjm: we meet at the cafe, have breakfast, critique prints from our last field trip, do a little talk about the group direction (we are relativley new), and then head out to the location. That's the idea, anyway. :p In the past we ended up socializing more, but the last few meetings we're trying to focus more on photography. We'd love to see you there, even if you can't make the trip (i need people on my side for filM!)

I just set us up with a website, so have a lookski :)

Eric.. I just came from prophoto. I'm trying to get them to print me my first 120 B&W film from the iskra, so I see what it looks like. But I have to go there again tomorrow as they are having trouble with the machine.

Rhad: sorry to hear about the commute. You might want to look into more local photo clubs. I do drive a bit to get to this one, though, as I live in Dana Point.

Xcapekey: I haven't tried any other clubs yet. I kinda like this one, since it's still relativley new and people like my photos :D Since we're going up to LA, I'm going to try to convince my carpool group to stob in LB on the way back and check out your gallery. Any chance you can be there? :)

REally?! I've been there and did a tour of the darkoom but now I'm set up in mine to even go up to 16x20's. I didn't see any information about the 3rd Thursdays. I think I was there last spring for a kid's class but haven't been there in a while. I'll have to check it out.

Is it a print exchange? I'm hoping its not a lot of digital though.

jano...i live about two blocks from the coffeeshop where it's showing....drop me an email or PM and I'll be there :)

russ: I don't know what time we'll be done at the lake shrine, I'll pm you my cell phone, feel free to call me on sat so we can coordinate.

I am a cyclist so I'm usually either working weekends or I'm riding my bike at that time :(

I worked in a lab in NYC. I did the negs and but we had master printers do gallery work. Learned a little :) Even had a couple of shows myself. Next time, buy me some Starbucks (I can meet you at the new place on McArthur and Main by Carl's Jr) and I'll print it fer ya. I have 8x10 Oriental Paper Fiber and some 11x14 Ilfords at home.

I used to bike, too.. but the doctor prohibits it now :(

If you think you can at least make the meeting in the mornings, it's only one saturday each month, hour to an hour and half, we'd be happy to have you! No need to go on the field trips, but they are fun.

Oh absolutley awesome!! I don't have place for a darkroom at home. I work sort of nearby.. used to be off of grand in the brookhollow center, but we moved last year to right off of bristol and the 73.

Eric - I go to prophoto in irvine once and a while, I live only a few blocks away. Great place and friendly people. :)

Jano - sounds like fun. I'll try to make it some time, however that may not be a possibility until May when school is out. The Photography Deviants website is interesting but will all the Latin(I'm guessing) switch to English if you become a member?

When you guys go into Pro photo do me a favor. Find John Reed or Rich Benenson and tell them that Gerry says hello. Also please find out if Dave belzer is still there or if he's moved on.

Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry I can't be with you. Another good spot is Laguna shooting the chess players and volleyball.

CJM: Well, you can make it when you can make it. I can understand saturday mornings are hard to wake up for ;) I just put the website up last weekend, hence the filler stuff. See: http://www.lipsum.com/

:p

Gerry, did you know George Mann? he didn't work at prophoto, but was/is a very, very frequent customer, although he's gone completely digital now. He's also the guy that started our group :) My first time at Prophoto was last friday, and I was in this morning, John was there. Nice guy, but I'd call him mr. complacent. *shrug*

I will be back in the OC on the 14th of February. Will not make your club meeting but would be willing to go do some street shooting.
