Ray and I have been talking off line about getting together for a scenic fall ride. This is a photo shooting trip, we plan on seeking the magic light of the early morning and quaint NE countryside. It looks like the projected foliage peak in CT is Oct 20-25.

Here is what we plan, and it all depends on weather. We have at this time blocked off the weekends of Oct 21,22 and Oct 28,29 as potential dates, we will make a final determination depending on how things look in the sky.

It has been a few years since I traveled this route, but the road I was thinking of is Route 49 between Sterling/Rte 14a and North Stonington/Rte 184. This runs through the Pachaug State Forest along the CT/RI boarder. It is very rural and listed as a "Scenic Highway" by the state of CT. Any other suggestions in this area about or to add to this plan would be appreciated, as would your company if you would like to join us.

So there are the plans. Out of the house early for a few hours of photography and then back home to play with the kids for the rest of the day. Let us know if you are interested in coming along.

I am thinking that we should travel south right now as we can extend the trip somewhere into Stonington and the shoreline if time permits. Just my immediate thoughts not set in stone of course.

I'm interested! Need to check the calendar and stuff (I'm not at home at the moment). Also I'm willing to take others from Boston if there is interest.

It will be good to see you again Peter, and yes, we need to make a trip to Boston. I may, depending on how my son is tomorrow, head up there to the science museum and aquarium. Just a boys day out if all goes well.

I am at work (currently Quincy) tomorrow Ralph. :( But I can definitely go to CT/RI on Sat. Oct 21. The other dates I'm not so sure about at the moment. So far no bites from the Boston contingent?

No, it is a bit of a ride, best to come down the turnpike into Worcester and head south on 395 down eastern CT, exit for14a. I will try to get more specific, we perhaps can meet right off 395 and roll from there.

Sounds like fun, I'm interested. I live in SE MA (about 45 minutes east of Providence) but I can easily access I-495 or I-195 and shoot across RI to meet up with the crew in Sterling. I can also pick up any Providence-area shooters on my way.

Both weekends look good for me right now; I can confirm tomorrow.

Thanks.

Great Chris, check out a map, but it may be best if you catch 6 in Providence and follow that west to I-395 South.

OK, we are shooting for Saturday 10/21 weather permitting.

I will let you guys discuss time, the earlier the better for me, morning light and all.

Meeting place, exit 88 off I-395 in Plainfield CT. The exit is for Route 14a Oneco. There is a Park & Ride commuter lot right off the exit that we can meet in.

Time to travel there,
Less than an hour from Providence.
Less than an hour from my house.
Probably a bit over an hour for Ray.
Peter, @30 minutes south of Worcester, maybe less.

Awesome!! Anybody from Boston? If you want to come with me you need to be able to get to my subway station - Brookline Hills, D Green Line to Riverside - pretty early Saturday morning to make rover happy...

Oh and BTW, I drive on the left side of the road. :D ;)

OK, terrible news.

The first day of school I signed up to be a parent volunteer at the 1st grade bowling trip, yesterday the note came via a backpack courier with a huge smile and full of excitement, bowling is next Saturday, I can't make the photo ride.

Man, it was a welcome back to school open house, I have to take notes on what I get myself into!!!!

Sorry guys, if it still works out you should go without me. Perhaps I will meet up with you early but cut out early too to head home and go bowling, that sounds like an idea.

Maybe Sunday the 22nd? Or the following weekend (altho the foliage might be a little past prime by then)?

I think I will be able to meet you guys early as I said, I just won't be in for the long haul. I think Peter has a conflict on the 22nd.

rover that's bad news. I can only go on the 21st. But we should have a date where most people can go. So if a couple more sign up lets see what the preferences are then. So far I've had no takers on my offer for a ride from Boston either by PM or email.
