Specs on the Lens - Advice

Hi guys,

I picked up a Kodak Six-20 Junior De Luxe at the weekend for next to naught. I was a dingy indoor antique market and lighting was low, but the camera looked fine and the price was on the cheaper side of cheap. Mechanically, it's sound and the bellows are fine, but the lens has me baffled. I'm not accustomed to dealing with cameras quite this old, and I'm not sure if the lens is marked, has fungus inside or some unknown third option. I've gently cleaned the lens on the inside of the body and on the front and the specs remain. Having not dealt with this before, I'm unsure how much impact the specs will have on any images I take with this camera. For the price of it, if it ends up being a piece that sits on my shelf looking handsome I won't be devestated, and it's given me a taste of folding cameras (I have a kershaw eight twenty penguin on route from the bay).

I've taken some atrocious pictures with my mobile phone to try and highlight the specs - you can kind of see them, but I apologise in advance!

Your pics are not showing up correctly right now. Could be server issue... Not sure, all I see are two question marks right now. I suspect the lens is a simple triplet since it is not marked.

It's pretty common for those old Kodaks to have stuff on the inside of the lens, such as haze, and some fungus. It should clean off easily, but you will have to take the lens apart to do it. At least the front element needs to come out, the rear element can be reached with the lens on T, and the aperture wide open. I'm thinking it's a double-meniscus, so only two elements.

ps 030614: Did a little research, and the only thing I could come up with on a definite lens mounting for your camera was "various". So it could be a double meniscus, anastigmat triplet, or a Tessar.
