Canon LTM Speedy P

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
PS -- Once the current scorch marks on my Visa card heal, I'm pretty determined to spring for the M-mount 35/1.2 Nokton to replace my 35/1.7 Ultron. I was shooting one of my rare paying assignments the other night, covering a dimly-lit patron reception at an art museum, and was thinking all the time that an extra full stop of maximum aperture would come in really handy.

When that happens, the Ultron will be looking for a new home.

I'll think about it. I really did like that lens. A lot. And that would be in my price range...I'd rather buy used than new, really. ;)

Steph, stick with a focal length fitting the widest your P will handle (35mm) - external VFs are a PITA unless you're dealing with something outrageously wide (21mm or wider), IMO. If speed isn't a priority, the CV 35mm pancake (presumably the first version, as opposed to the second, M-mount version) will do the job, but if you want True Available Light capability, you want faster. Either search (harder) for that Canon 35mm f/1.8, or go for the Ultron. You're spending for keeps (at least from what I can tell), so choose accordingly, then buy lots of film and get out there...like you've been doing, but moreso.

Another vote for the 35/1.8. Mine ran me $214, barrel shows some use but glass looked like the first day, really. It also came with leather case and Canon 40mm skylight filter, so it was even a more reasonable deal.

Plus it looks incredibly cool on the P.

Yeah...my goal would be to find one for $250-$275. That would leave me plenty of money for film and accessories. I wanted to leave myself some money to get Vuescan if I like it because I don't know how Minolta's software is going to be.

Oh, and that price has now dropped considerably, though I may be able to scrape together some more cash at that time. I realized how badly I need a monitor that can do color calibration if I'm going to do any kind of printing at all...so I have to grab a used/refurb LaCie Electron Blue 19" CRT with some of it. :p Now I'm going to be in a pickle.
