The Spunik has landed!
The Spunik has landed!
It arrived today, in the bottom of an 18" cube carton with packing peanuts, and the other 29 pounds of camera gear on top of it. Plus, they shipped it with the hood open! Luckily, the ERC folded over just enough to shield the hood, and the whole was wrapped very well in bubbles.
The shutter mechs seem a bit sticky, as they both stuck open, and then closed when I manipulated the connector between them. But it looks brand new, without a scratch. The tripod bolt on the ERC is missing, but other than that it's all there (well, no lens caps). I can't believe the GOMZ factory couldn't figure out a way to put serial numbers on these.
The rest of the equipment is a hit-or-miss affair. I now have my first DSLR, but it's got no lens, battery, or charger. And my first bit of "mint" gear, a Sekonic Micro Leader L-98 new in the box, never been unwrapped. Even has the EXP13 cell still in its sealed plastic baggie. And seventeen more P&S cameras to add to all the others. Took an hour just to unwrap it all.

Christmas has come early for you!
Let me know how you get on with the Sputnik.
Does it have its name in English or Russian?
Cheers

It's in Cyrillic, Peter, with the GOMZ logo on top of the finder.
I don't know about Christmas, a lot of it is things I don't need (like another lens mount to deal with). And of all the P&S cams, there's only a couple I didn't already have.
