Stand Development: what developers have you tried besides Rodinal???

One of my problems with semi or just stand development is; is there any difference between stand and regular. Many claim that it holds down highlights from blowing maybe so. Here are two the first with Ansel Adams HC-110 Semi-Stand and the second with Rodinal 1+50 and minimal agitation. For the life of me I can't tell the difference.

Rodinal and min agitation is the 10/7/4/1 min 3 inversion method?
Can you describe what you (Mr. Adams) do exactly with hc-110 when you semi-stand?
Is it pure hc-110 or your hc-110/rodinal mix you used here?

Both films are Tmax 100, I'll look up the agitation schedule.

The Ansel Adam's method is rather loosely described in the last "The Negative" but it is basically (and I'l give you what I do) HC-110 at about 120:1. I think I use 4ml to make 500ml solution. Then 30 seconds initial agitation and then every 5 minutes. It ends up pretty long, If I remember right about 40 minutes for Tmax. It was much shorter for TriX and I don't know if I ever did it with Tmax400.

Yes the 1+50 was minimal agitation which would have been every 3-4 minutes.

I do agree that Rodinal 1:50 with minimal agitation is similar to 1:100 semi-stand. But 1:50 with 4 inversions every minute looks different to me than every 3 minutes. That difference is greater than the 1:50/minimal to 1:100 difference.

Could be; I've never looked at it. You start to realize even with one or two developers the variations will aproach infinity.

These are the timings for Tmax100 right? What about temperature? Also, how would I go about calculating how long I'd need if I develop 400tx at EI 1600?
