It could be worst.
We could be talking Red Sox vs Yankees.
Do people actually care enough about the American League to talk about them?

And the answer is Penguins! Good call, Earl.

... because RD1 is the very most analog of all digital cameras.
R
It really is. True or not it always feel to me like they took a Bessa and replaced the film loading area with a digital sensor and a SD card slot and that's it.
My friends sometime pick up the R-D1 and ask if it's some kind of weird primitive prototype digital camera. And I think that's what makes it so great: that it's the best in-between hybrid/compromise of film camera controls and digital output...

seriously, i've been shooting with the M8 for a few months and whilst the low ISO pics can be stunning, i still think i prefer the R-D1. the menus in the M8 are a pain, and there is the slightest of shutter lags that drives me nuts after the instantaneous response of the Epson. i will keep on plugging away, though....
you love the R-D1, joe? so do i! and i will continue to defend it. there just isn't any digital that comes as close to being so intuitive!

regarding the batteries, Dirk at Japan Exposures is selling the originals and they are best and last the longest. my second choice is Jessop's (in the UK) generic brand. both will give you significantly longer battery life than the generics Joe is putting up with.

The latest KEH catalog is out, and the RD-1s and M-8 are within $800 of each other in the same condition. The RD-1S was ~$2100, the M-3 ~$2900.
Can some people start knocking the RD-1 like they do the M8??? Bring those prices down!
