State of affairs: Leica warranty

I would appreciate some clarifications from the Leica connoisseurs on this forum:

1. To which extent is the Leica warranty region specific? If I'd buy a new Leica in the USA online whilst living in the EU does the advertised ''USA warranty'' cover me in Europe?

2. I am an expatriate and move around...what if I leave Europe within the next year and the camera breaks down in Africa. Will the original warranty cover me there as well?

If you explain your situation, yes. I also travel a lot and have had US leica warranties serviced at other locations. The specific Leica office that handles the issue might be more or less willing to budge, though.

If you trust the local post system, you could also deal directly with Germany...
