Cuba's 11 million citizens appear to have about 1 million statues of Jose Marti, their national hero. This one is in front of a friend's family's home in Guaro. Their home is one of five similar "American houses" in town which were once used by the American managers of the US owned sugar cane operation. The statue was erected in 1960 when the Cuban government expropriated all US owned assets and gave the house to the family to live in.
