Has any one out there had any experience with the 1:4.5 f=35mm VL Steinheil Munchen Orthostigimatic LTM mount. I have heard the quality of the lens is quite good however it's seems fairly slow by modern standards.

Well, this may not help much, but I have a SM 40mm/f3.5 and have taken a few pictures with it mounted on my Fuji X-A1 (digital).

I have since got my ZeissJena 50mm back from CLA'd and I like those pictures better (for whatever that's worth).
So.... IMO, don't spend a lot of $$$ on the SM lens
