Steinheil-Munchen lenses = dating by serial # ?

I hope I am not breaking the rule for this particular department... if so, please accept my mea culpa right from the beginning...🙂


Steinheil made lenses for a number of different camera manufacturers...

Is there a resource somewhere that allows one to date a Steinheil lens based on its serial number ?

Of primary interest to me are the Steinheil lenses made for the Argus C-44 camera and also for the Exakta SLR.

It's a big and fine book not just about the lenses the Steinheil dynasty made over a span of many decades, written by its technical Director and family member. Highly recommended!
