Stereo cameras

And then you have the Stereo craze form the 1890s and 1950s.
The latter with Rf cameras like this Iloca or the super famous Stereo Realist

I have the Verascope from my father.
My grandfather had an ICA polyscop, in the 70s my father took many of his glass plates home before they were thrown away
Last time I visited my mother, I began digitizing them... what a trip!
Pics form the centenary of independence (1922)

I happened to come across this Stereo Camera site. Some gorgeous woodworking examples here :

I’m in the midst of selling off all my stereo cameras - Revere 33, Duplex Super 120, Philippe Tiranty Verographe 6x13 stereo/panoramic, Macris-Boucher Nil Melior and my Jeanneret Monobloc 6x13 stereo/panoramic.

BTW glass plates aren’t hard to find - there are newly-made Zebra dry plates out of Slovenia that can be ordered in custom sizes, and Jason Lane / Pictoriographica in the States is getting his new facilities in order and should hopefully be making and selling his glass plates later this year (we hope!).

The Stereo Realist, got one of the early models (first 1,000) from a friend (his parents estate) and I guess it had been in storage for decades
The leather case is not in the best shape but the camera is OK.

It is heavy! the camera feels like and old Ford; solid, heavy, but comfortable and reliable. The built in lens cover is handy helps keep it clean
Glass is clean, and shutter fires at all speeds.

By S/N this must be from 1948/9 which is also reinforced by the lenses marked as ILEX-Paragon which was replaced by David White soon after

Stereo Realist

The RF was out of alignment and after removing the bottom leatherette there were 4 screws (there should be 5) to remove and get access to the RF mechanism

RF inside

Film is loaded after removing the back, trimming it like a Leica (20 sprockets)

Later models have a white dot, mine doesn;t, I used a bit of gold paint to mark the spot.
