Stereo Nikkor 3.5cm

Jan,
It's very strange!
Although the link works for me, if I try to access the Auction page via Ebay USA, Ebay USA says, the item is not available via their site.

That may very well affect the final price of this item.

On another Note, the description is an exact copy of Bob Rotoloni's second(1983) Book.

Perhaps a few searching questions about the lens to the seller might help establish if it's a genuine sale or not. Also, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask him what the Wisconsin/Spain thing is all about.

I did send a question to the seller.

But as Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame would say: The odds of a guy selling hats and motosport accessories out of Wisconsin, coming up with a stereo Nikkor out of Spain is 5,321,700,000 to one!

Kiu,

It is very strange indeed. I also checked his previous auctions.

The seller only ships to Europe, that is why it doesn't show up on Ebay USA.

If you were going to sell a true collectors item in this condition, would you put it up at a starting bid of 50 Euros with no reserve price? Something doesn't seem right.

I feel bad for the hi bidder, thinking they got a bargain. I hope they don't pay...
Sniped it last minute, OH WELL, I tried to prevent it.

ebay does not offer a reserve price option in many European countries, for liability reasons - in many countries that would pass the threshold towards being a qualified auctioneer, and where they'd have more responsibility for the condition and origin of the items sold through them.

And most people apart from high-price BIN stores do list with a 1€ starting bid - that saves on the listing fee and chances that a desirable item is not bid on are smaller than the risk of driving off bidders with a high minimum.

ebay reply about the seller id.

ebay reply about the seller id.

i questioned ebay about the seller id. this was there reply. i also contacted the seller in the U.S. they said there listing is not theirs. i guess the only way i would send the person a payment would be thru paypal with the funds backed by a credit card ( i've had problems with paypal before) this would give me dbl. protection.

ps. it is interesting that the feedback numbers for the 2 DIFFERENT sellers have the same number!!!!! i think ebay was trying to pull a fast one on me!

"Yes a different person can have the same user ID (that an eBay member
has on the US site) on a different site.

This doesn't come up too often, but I can see how it would be very
confusing.

I can see your concerns now about this expensive item. I don't blame you
for being cautious. That is a lot of money in question. The best way to
gauge the situation has to be feedback percentage, amount and how long
they have been on the site. Certainly I would only recommend using
PayPal because of buyer protection.

However sometimes if a deal is too good to be true -- then it is too
good to be true. I have been burned a couple of times as a buyer when I
went for the cheapest without looking at the sellers performance."
