Steve McCurry Exhibit in North Central Florida

John:

You will really enjoy this one. It is currently at the Orlando History Museum and was at the Southeastern Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach before that.

Keep tabs on what is at the Appleton. I saw a Clyde Butcher major show there about 18 years ago. It was very worthwhile even if he is not my style. I do think you have to pick and choose there.

Also, the Harn in Gainesville has some dynamite exhibits. Don't shy away from the exhibits that are not photography. I have seen some extraordinary exhibits there that really expanded my vision. It is one of the museums that I never hesitate to visit regardless of what is up.

Always keep track of what is coming up at the Southeastern Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach. Really great exhibits and just a short shot across HW 40. I try to not miss any openings as they are a good opportunity to spend time with some very significant photographers.

I am just blown away. I usually don't care for large color prints, but these are on another plane. All the prints would make good B&W prints, but this color works! He has a quote that I will paraphrase; It is not just the color or forms, but a combination that he works with. I went through today, just trying to digest what he wanted us to see. I will go back for closer inspection. I did have to google Lambda Prints though. The lighting could have been better, as the reflections got in the way of viewing some prints in the place I wanted to stand. That is just small stuff though. Great works!
