Even if you consider "Afghan Girl" the Stairway to Heaven of Nat Geo style photography as I do, some of these images are insanely beautiful:

I missed his exhibit in Pensacola. It ran for 3 months or so! I just did not go ...
Thanks for the tip.

I went to this with a couple of photography friends a couple weeks ago. I actually own the companion book of Steve McCurry's India photographs so I was already familiar with the photos themselves, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit being able to see the prints in person.

Went to this yesterday. Somewhat disappointed. Although there were a handful of great images.
Out of curiosity, where you disappointed by the photographs themselves, or the exhibit/space?

Not as many photographs as I thought there would be. The space is really nice. Very quiet. Easy to find. Nice part of Chelsea. The color in the photographs is too...cranked up. I know he used Kodachrome, but at first I thought they were oil paintings or HDR. They looked really unnatural.
Gotcha... I do agree, it was a little smaller than I expected as well. I didn't realize until I got there it was part of a larger multi-floor exploration of Indian culture.
Colors didn't bother me, but then I have a couple of Steve's books including the India one. I was pretty well prepared for his signature vibrant color usage throughout. The print quality didn't blow me away, but then 1) being a photographer, I was standing too close to the prints
