Mick, Simon, thank you for your kind words! When I shot this photo I did know the name Winogrand, but only some of his streetshots. My photo was taken at Hagenbecks in Hamburg where people are allowed to interact with the elephants; they feed them and the elephants collect coins from the people. Thinking of the elephants´ intelligence and social structure I found it a pitiful amusement. The scene I shot was the only that looked like a heart-to-heart interaction between two species.

What a wonderful photograph Vince.
The lighting makes it look like a film still, to say nothing of the guys looking as though they've come direct from central casting. The bloke in the red top looks like one of my fishing mates.

My my my .... as a guy who's currently going through a difficult breakup, this thread has brought a lightness to my day, a smile to my face and, most importantly, hope to my heart.
Thank you all for posting *sniff*

I think that catching strangers in initimate moments, is very much what street photography is about. Not only, but very much.
But how are we to document the human side of the human kind otherwise ?

not a "stranger" per se - but definitely an intimate moment...

That shot was done at about 4 in the morning. It's a place in Crisfield, Maryland, which is the blue crab capital of the world. These are 'watermen' at their local gathering spot, just before they head out to get the morning's catch.
Gotta love all them Tastykakes lined up at the counter - the breakfast of champions!
