I recently purchased a Leica II which has no strap lugs. I'm not a big fan of cases, so that won't work. I'm aware of the Gordy wrist straps that can be attached to the tripod mount, but hate Gordy straps. I prefer a neck strap.

What else is out there?

Cool! A Leica II and an X2!!!:)

I know you prefer naked, but this is really the best option and Luigi will do the Leica II very proud!

Thanks guys. Dave, you told me I have to add barnacks since I bought the X2. I was just taking your advice. ;)

The truth is that I've always wanted a black paint II and my buddy Calzone got one at a good price (which he then let me have for the same price). I couldn't pass it up.

I'm a neck strap fan, so having no lugs is rough for me. I may just go strapless. It's too pretty to cover up. Fits in a large pocket with the 50mm elmar.

Some thirty years ago my IIIf came with the lower portion of the original leather case as a throw-in. Since then I have not attached any strap to the body, used it with the original half-case with strap. If I were you I would rather buy a used case for the II or III series (cheap) and take off the upper part if you do not like it.

Hey, naked is good...;)

A little back story: I first bought a 1956 chrome IIF Red Dial and then stumbled into the 1938 black paint II with chrome knobs, and then brought both cameras to the most recent NYC Meet-Up. All this happened within the last week.

Stil prior to the meet-up, somehow I got a line on another black paint II that was older with nickel knobs, but it ended up being a 1934-1935 black paint III that even has brassing on the knobs through use, that currently needs service.

I consider myself a very lucky guy. Just sharing some of that luck with John. Funny thing is that John prefers the chrome knobs, while I prefer Nickel. The chrome IIF is remarkably clean and has been maintained because the VF'er is mucho bright, but the best part is that its one of the later Red Dials with a top shutter speed of 1/1000th.

Use a neverready case from a Zorki 1 or just the bottom portion on your Leica II if you want to go the budget route.

Cal, you and John are both lucky enough...good friends, wonderful cameras, great times!:)

I'd go the half case route. Even with lugs neck straps aren't ideal on black paint Barnacks as the rubbing inevitably causes brassing. Broken cases can be found pretty cheaply and if you have a whole one you can always sew the front flap back on if you change your mind.

If there isn't an elegant solution that isn't a case or wrist strap, I guess I just have to let it be. Just keep it in my bag until it's time to use.

I know it won't satisfy your strap fetish, but I think the belt clip available at DAG is a possible solution. I could get you a large o-ring and you could slip it over the o-ring instead of using it as it was intended (over a belt). It mounts in the tripod socket.

Thanks Cal, but that's not happening. You know I'm very particular.

The clip and an o-ring is a bit funky. Speaking of funky, you can't imagine how much filth builds up on a Barnack over 7 decades. You should of seen your camera before I cleaned it.

Get an old wrist strap, remove the strap and add a neck strap. It won't be as clean if you use store bought so IMO the best would be DIY.

Or, see if Gordy will take the screw in attachment and put one of his straps on it.

I'm sure he would, but I've always hated his straps. I think I'm just going to go naked with it. :) However, if that doesn't work for me, the gordy strap might have to be the one.
