Street Gurus

Alex has been trashing Eric on his blog, "Nasty". He doesn't mention him by name, but his references are there nonetheless. One thing Eric has going for himself is his honesty. He doesn't profess to have all the answers, but delights in sharing what he finds out.
It's interesting to see who has the most followers, but it's not a contest. One is honest, one seems to be going for "effect". Who is right? Who is wrong? My belief is you want the "knowledge", read, look at all kinds of art, know history, live life, and keep working.
 
I'm not so sure what the difference is here between the usual "look at me" social media posts and his post ... other than its about photography (supposedly), and now is being viewed under a microscope because of its crudeness.
 
Alex is definitely the "look at me" kind of guy because of his crudeness. Eric's background is in marketing of all things. I don't really know how they both got started John. Eric has a love of photography and according to him, didn't want to work in the corporate realm. I know nothing of Alex. I tried communicating with him, and if you don't praise him right from the beginning, kind of like Steve Huff, he will push you aside.

I don't really have a problem with these guys. The way I see it, you don't have to pay attention to them if they don't do it for you. Most people have had their share of being a jackass on the internet. 😱 I know I have.
 
Its a noisy world out there and even moreso on the internet, some people have to shout to be heard...I guess thats what most successful bloggers do, this guys just trying to have a voice and make a name for himself.

My bet is it will work...at least to some degree

I don't have a problem either. One can choose to "change" the channel if one wants to..

We are spending time discussing it here so you are right and I also agree if you don't like it don't tune in. I tend to prefer some of the photographers I have mentioned and I really like your work to Simon.

Yeah a bit sometimes but he knows photography and I do like the way he puts it in this instance. Saw him lecture not long after the book Redheads was published (mid 1980's IIRC) and it was a bit long winded but it was interesting to hear his creative approach. I do find the creative process interesting and how it varies from one creative to another.

If you haven't seen the movie I highly recommend it.
 
I like Kwesi's suggestion of "you must post images to participate", but why one uses the gear they do may be helpful to beginners. I think RFF members are mature enough to not get into "best camera/lens combo is best for street work" pissing contests.
