Thank you, Steve. His father was a photographer, and had him shoot sports with a Graphic while he was in high school for the family income. When he joined the Marines, tests sent him to the Naval photography school in Pensacola where he was trained as a darkroom technician, shipped to Vietnam, where as soon as he was in-country he learned that the base photography assets including darkroom had been mortared. So he became a door gunner in a chopper.
We did have a nice coffee meeting to talk about life and photography and America after getting acquainted at the city plaza.
