Definitely a good opportunity to catch up on scanning, printing, getting gear serviced, etc. As well as some neat shots in nice directional light.

nice pictures
It's getting more and more difficult to see scenes like this, here around. The winter is getting warmer every year. To see snow I've to go to the Alps.
I like winter, I like temeratures with a minus

I too need to throw a flag on this one. I think you need to send me your Leica to serve a two week RFF suspension. You can keep posting during that time, but I get to shoot with your camera.

Well, I don't speak Latin so I don't know; but can you tell me the difference in meaing of your quote and the "Illigitimus non carborundum" on many vehicle windshields in Vietnam?

I still live in So Cal and I took this shot yesterday. It was just comfortable in shirt sleves. January will be the same.

What do I do in the winter in Troy? That's easy. Shovel snow. Shovel out the parking space in front of the house and then shovel it again. Then get mad when the neighbor who didn't bother to shovel his house out parks in the space I shoveled.
Once in a while I take a picture of the job at hand before I start shoveling.

Lots of snow coming down offers some photo opportunities. This one taken with my Olympus digital.

Sometimes I think that I shovel this much snow every winter here. Thats my youngest and his friend on top of a pile in an area mall.

Okay, okay. I just couldn't resist. I was raised in New York and lived north of Scranton, Pa for many years so I've paid some dues. And I really do understand the question and empathise.

Awesome... winters almost here.
Winter photography, snowmobiling, etc...
I used to hate winter and mopped around for those months. So I decided to do something about it and find something that would take up my time.
So now I'll be riding around in the wilderness on a snowmobile, looking for more shots like this one.
Let the snow begin!!

well gents, i want to thank you all for some informative and entertaining posts.
the member who emailed me to let me know i that i am a wimp...well, you may be right
at 54, with arthritis in my hands and pain in my knees, hiking through the winter wonderlands is a lot tougher than it used to be. of course getting to the car at -40c is tougher than it used to be also. thank goodness for remote starters!!
anyway, keep the winter shots coming (as in photos) and more ideas if ya got em.
