Street work.

Some of my street work I had done.
Wanted to try using colour film to capture the streets, instead of using the traditial black and white approach.
I'm quite fond of these images.

I have very different reason for each different image.
For the first photo, I like the semi-posed expressions of the person.
Just relaxing having a coffee with a friend while you can also see the reflection of the photographer (me) capturing that moment.

Second image. I love the colour, it enhances the atmosphere.
The scene with the bike, the design of said bike blends in with the background which in a way reminds me of a scene in Paris.

Third image. I like the composition of the lady and the sense of loneliness it gives with the empty street of Paris.
I feel the colour works really well too. Gives it a sense of emotion.

Forth image. The interaction of the man preparing to open the train doors once the train has stopped and arrived at his destination.

Last image. The senior man checking his book about Glasgow tells me the senior couple are not from this part of town who are just touring around the city.
The yawn the senior women is experiencing shows that she's tired.
They must have been touring for a while and feeling some fatigue from their adventure while traveling to their next destination.

I like the color in this series of photo's. The last photo of the couple has some grain but still a good photo. Looks to have some nice latitude. What film is it?

Image three and four are shot with Agfa Vista 200 rated at 400ASA.
Developed normally.

The rest are shot with Fujifilm 400h Pro rated at box speed of 400ASA.

When you have images with color cast, especially film scans, don't sharpen them, because sharp images with color cast work in opposite ways. Color cast is dreamy nostalgic feel and sharpening is the opposite of that.

In the first image for example, the two hipsters and your outline is too sharp for a window shot, the outline of your head has a sharpening halo.

In the last image, the yellow color cast is a little too distracting... auto color in photoshop is your friend.

First one is maybe ok, the rest have nothing to them, there is no effort or meaning to your compositions. You can describe the atmosphere with words but if we can't see it... Try HCSP group on flickr, especially critique thread.

I still have a lot to learn and building up experience and techniques.
I will have a look at the flickr group you have mentioned.
Care to elaborate about no effort or meaning to the composition?
