Any idea how to remove this lens without marring the metal? It's supposed to twist right off.

I tried dabbing WD40 and letting it sit but it still won't budge.

Are you sure? It looks like the F stops plate has screws into the body. It the lens were removable that would go too. I would think?

Yeah that small part with the filter threads comes off and the F stop plate just falls out.

I was hoping to find a small enough filter wrench but 25mm doesn't seem to exist.

You could try using a rubber stopper (rubber cork) that's larger than the front end diameter and press and turn. Otherwise, maybe try to grip it with a rubber piece cut from a tire's inner tube.

Yep, the front lens should simply unscrew. A rubber pad (like a mouse-pad) or a friction pad for opening jars should do the trick. I've had some success with a large flat eraser too.

Cosmonaut, the F-stop plate just covers the RF adjustment opening. It's not attached to anything else ;)

If a rubber mouse pad doesn't work, a piece of cork board may do the trick.

There are also special lens working tools shaped kind of like funnels, they're made of rubber and are made specially for opening lenses without marring the glass. You can usually buy them from a camera repair shop very cheaply, $10 or so for a bunch of sizes.
