Stuck Shutter Help

It is a relatively easy repair to do. Whilst you are doing it, it would also be worth replacing the seals. The basic procedure is the remove the front lens groups and then gently clean the shutter/diaphragm with Ronsonol until it works properly. It can take several applications and is also quicker and easier if you remove the rear lens group as well thought this is more difficult.

Rather than write it all out here, search the Canon threads. It has been well documented in the past. If not, I may be able to find a link to the instructions when I get home this evening.

Thanks, Brian and Kim. I don't have the tools to take apart the lens, but after a more thorough search of the Canon threads, I found and old post by Greyhoundman. Apparently, it was my self time that jammed the shutter. So now I just have to replace the light seals and start taking pictures.

I can second the recommendation on Jon Goodman. His kit is excellent, and the instructions are foolproof. He is also responsive to questions. No relation except as satisfied customer, of course.

The kit is enough to do several cameras, with mistakes. Remember, if you cut it too short, you can always splice in a piece, but if you cut it too long, there's nothing you can do....😀
