Hey everyone,
I decided to study abroad in Barcelona next semester. I was hoping people familiar with Barcelona could help me with a few questions I have.
What's your favorite neighborhood to photograph in and why?
What festivals, events etc. will be happening from January-May that I should attend?
Where is a good film processing and scanning lab in Barcelona?
Thanks. Any further comments about Barcelona would be greatly appreciated. I am very excited to be in a lively city with many photographic opportunities after being cooped up at school. I also plan to study abroad during the summer in South America, location suggestions?

Poble Sec is really interesting. I would also recommend spending a lot of time down by the water, either the harbor or the beach. You will have a great time!

Oooo, good choice. I have no idea what your subject is/will be, but the city is interesting and so are the surroundings.
A European RFF meet was held in Barcelona, this spring. There was a lot of knowledgeable assistance from RFF members in and around the city for our itinerary, but I can't find the pre-trip discussion thread right now. Some of the pictures from the weekend are here....

Timothy: welcome and just walk, walk & walk. When I settled down in BCN, I used to take the subway, get off at someplace in the middle of nowhere and walk back to the city centre (usually not more than 1-2 hours).
On festivals, and if you're into indie rock music, check out the Primavera Sound festival at the very end of may.
I agree with Juan that EGM is one of the better places to go to, but they're not cheap. Many photo students bring their work to PRO40, which is nothing special but much more easy on your wallet.

Thanks for the replies. Nice pictures, I will definitely go there. Anyone have more photos from Barcelona? Theyre just making me more excited, wish I could skip this semester and leave.
I'm really looking to go to cultural festivals where there are lots of people and thus, photos to be made. My goal for my semester there is just to shoot constantly. I've been in a photo rut at school in Binghamton, just want to finally be able to step outside my door and take photos all day.
