anyway.. It looks like that you need to keep that open to draw the air in. you can make an aluminum foil air shaft. with light baffles to that it doesn't reflect all over the place. Can you get an disposable aluminum cake pan or roasting pan? Get a couple of those and make an air duct out of it. Tape it down with duct tape and your in business. Think of it as a snoot for the heater. you can put a dark cloth on the bath tub so absorb any stray light coming out of the duct.
