unwilling to attempt this myself, i handed my 5cm summar f/2 over to a local "repairman" to clean some rubbish from between the elements and the repairman tipped the opened lens over to disturb the arrangement of the aperture leaves. his ability to manage fine details such as the reassembly seems to be impaired by some disability of logic and dexterity. i am not prepared to attempt this.

does anyone have a "map" of how to assemble the leaves? or perhaps i will send it to melbourne...

otherwise, the lens has been cleaned...!#$%^!

They dome out towards the front of the lens. Alternate the two shapes of leaves, there are six of each shape. You want to set it up with all the leaves fully open. The rear pins are a tight fit. Then put the slotted ring on the front. It's very fiddly.

cheers, john. not sure i can do this on my own but i'll at least be able to draw up a configuration. i appears to be fiddly. i think the repairman has not worked on leica lenses before and got in over his head. i may just send it to melbourne as i don't want to stuff it up. thanks for the help.

The trick is that every leaf needs to be under the one after it. Starts easy, gets really fussy at the end. The pins on the Summar leaves are a rather tight fit in the holes, actually makes it a bit easier. (They don't tend to pop out.)
