If you extend the lens, then 'back the bayonet up' and wrap something rubber round the front ring you should be able to shift it but remember that you will need to exert the same force to get it back to its original position.
But then again, if the lens is hazy it is most likely not here, more likely around the iris.
Thanks again for your advice. What I don't understand is how you are able to unscrew just the front piece without taking the connected cell with it. I can take the connected pair out quite easily. But separating the two is quite another thing, it appears!

I have recently decided to give this lens another go - mainly after looking at the pics in this thread! Most times I generally go for my 50mm elmar or 50mm sonnar instead (all from around the same period) as I find them a bit more predictable. I find the results with the summar a lot more hit and miss but when it works the results are really worthwhile!

Do You know guys, if the ITOOY is a good hood for the Summar? The FLQOO is too expensive.

The ITOOY will be to large in diameter unless you add a SOOGZ adaptor.
Try Jack the Hats hood on the big auction site....
Or PM me i may be able to help you out.

Hi, Jim...that is a heck of a good idea...I could put my old Summar on a T just like you mentioned in the other thread!!!
The images above are really nice for an old 1937 lens!!!
