The Summarit 35/2.5 it's a very fine performer, but a Summicron 35 it's sensibly better. I own a goggled Summicron 35 with 8 elements, an excellent performer.
Ciao.

Oh, that's interesting to know.... my assumption is that this will also fit the Summarit 50mm, since the Leica hood is the same hood for 50mm and 35mm.
Presumably it screws onto the same thread as the Leica hood?
Yes that's right.

I currently have a version III Summicron and a Summaron 2.8 without goggles. I decided I like the look of the Summaron better for my own photography than the faster 'cron. In fact I am selling it in the classifieds right now. What convinced me was a while back I rented an M8 and was shooting in Paris. I got such a beautiful rendition in my color cityscapes that I haven't seen in the 'cron. It's that old leica look. It's my own preference, and I am surprised by it. I usually like to shoot wide open indoors at fast aperatures and keeping the slower lens was not something I thoght I would do.

I recommend You to read this review:

It's a comparison between the Leica 35mm f/2.5 Summarit and the Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 Biogon.
As for myself, I would go with the Zeiss Biogon ;-)

I got my 35 Summarit from Tony Rose at Popflash a few months ago, and it's the most satisfying lens I own. Rocheung said it well in his comment here: not super sharp (to my mind, hardly a fault), but "creamy and natural, not exaggerated." The f/2.5 aperture is irrelevant to me, since I rarely shoot it wide open. The only thing about it I don't like is the barrel distortion, but I'm pretty fussy about such things, and it's no worse than, say, the 35/1.4 Nokton in this respect. Here are some shots taken a few days ago here in London:

Well I bought the 35mm Summarit and I've put a film (Kodak chromogenic mono) through it. Here are some images:-

I have no standard for comparison, but it seems OK. And I certainly enjoy the 35mm perspective. This is going to be my main lens, I'm sure.

Well I've got my hands on the summarit again. I'll do some personal comparisons to the IV cron this week. I can't remember which one I liked more...
