Well, three years now with the Summarit 1.5 and I am more impressed with not only the great quality build of the lens itself, but I am just now learning the M3+Summarit kit...and it will take the rest of my life to even begin to master it.

I tried the 35 Cron. Couldn't give it back soon enough because the 50 is the focal length that is me. Cannot change to a 35 as a one camera one lens setup. YMMV. That's great, but for me, it is the 50 and the Summarit 1.5 is it:

Lovely portraits Dave.

One of my aims for the future is to follow a similar direction - acquire an M film body and plonk one lens on it permanently. It would most likely be my Summarit that arrived recently for the M9.

Thank you, sir.

The only slippery slope part is...one camera one lens turns into many "one camera one lens" kits! For instance, on the IIIF, it has the Industar 26. The FE2 has the 50 1.8 lens. Etc......:p

The upside of this is you really bond and think with the absence of thinking about the gear after awhile.:angel:
 
My Summarit example is rather special as it has some optical defects that make it into a very pleasant soft focus lens. DAG took a look at it, and a look at some images it can produce, and his verdict was not to touch the optics. I have many vintage (sharp) 50mm lenses, so I left my Summarit as my soft focus portrait lens for the family. Whenever I talk about my Summarit and its "problems", I have several people here shout out that their Summairit lenses are tack sharp. This is very well possible. My lens has defects.
