Gabor,
O.K... it can do color.... WOW!
Thanks Gabor, I think. (D**m GAS). And Helen, thanks for asking for these. Next time I'm in New York, I'll buy you a bagel.

... likes film again.
Helen, Steve, Jamie, thank you !!
The next project is shooting a few of my remaining Kodachrome rolls with that lens ...
Most important thing with the Summarit (from my experience) is that it needs MUCH light to produce some contrast (and it should be serviced ...)
Cheers,
gabor

Was it at 400 or it was pushed?

Wow! Helen, this shot is gorgeous!
I need to use my Summarit more. Not sure if my copy needs service. The glass looks pretty clean. Maybe the problem is the shooter.

The Summarit is all that you are seeing but unsatisfying wide open. Things get good about f4! The Summilux was a huge improvement on the perfomance of the Summarit. Take a look at the evolution of the Summarit from the Xenon..pretty much the same lens.

That`s - as many things in life -n a matter of taste and personal preferrences ...

film is exciting
I had a lightly hazed summarit that I loved wide open, it had the summarit swirls in the OOF areas. It was a fun lense, I just wanted a more modern fast lense. The Summarit is all that you are seeing but unsatisfying wide open. Things get good about f4! DAG suggested that I leave my lens as is.

Hack.
Roma, I think you said you got yours re-coated? How much was it if you don't mind? Have you noticed a significant difference in performance?
BTW here's a colour shot from my Summarit:
And here's a black and white one. Just a social snap, but it's wide open and shows that the lens can work wide open pretty well IMO.

Another one.
I am in love with this lens. But... I may have to sell it to fund a new scanner.
