I have a 50mm f/1.5 Summarit lens that has very slight haze in the inner element.
I have cleaned this type of hazing from other lens before but cannot figure out how to get inside this lens.
Any suggestions??

The head screws off, but there's a screw holding it in place. I did this *once* before and swore never to do it again (the aperture blades ended on my floor).

I'm sure there's at least one other Summarit owner on RFF that could give you a more technical walkthrough.

So, bump.

I had same thing happened to me. Blades came off and I don't know how to put them back. Any advice? I'm not too heartbroken, I never thought much of this lens, plus haze in mine is inside cemented/sealed elements, so I can't really clean it, but still, if there is an easy fix for the blades - could you tell me?
Thanks

Haze does not get between cemented elements. That sounds like a cement failure.

Send it to Focal Point for recementing. They will charge extra for pieces more than likely. DAG will not recement I believe. Send him an E-Mail and see what he says.

Actually the lens is quite nice if in good condition. If you have cement failure or haze, I can see why you don`t like it. Even cleaned up, it won`t be a new `lux clone. But it has outstanding out of focus blur and a sharp cental area at 1.5.

Krosya: my "easy" fix cost money -- I sent it to Don at DAG

And I agree with Ronald, it sounds like you've got cement separation/failure on your lens. Not pretty; I've got that on a Xenon. If Focal Point will fix it, I'm willing to give them a try; has anybody sent them a Summarit for recementing?

I had FocalPoint do a full number on my summarit and it came back perfect. Recoated etc. Spent more money than it was worth in the market, but am pleased with the lens. Love the heft and feel of it, and I couldn't spring for a 1.4 summilux. Oh Well.

There may be a cheper answer somewhere else. Mike

Thanks for the info guys.
I think it's not worth it, in my case to send it anywhere. Maybe I'll sell it for parts or something. Plus I have an ugly but a very well working J-3 as my 50mm fast lens. And I like Sonnar type lenses anyway. Plus I may look into Nokton as well. We will see.
If anyone is interested in Summarit parts let me know.
Thanks again.
