Summicron 50/2 L39 LTM question

Once you get it sorted, you will love this lens. The low contrast is great if you shoot B&W film. Be sure to use a shade with it - either the ones Leica made for it or a collapsible rubber shade. There are probably aftermarket metal shades available as well. I've had one for years and use it on both LTM and M series cameras. I got mine more than 10 years ago and it's a pristine example except for a little divot out of the track for collapsing the lens. The glass is good and clear and I ALWAYS use a UV filter on it. Enjoy.

Heliopan makes a nice small 39mm mount diameter lens hood that works for this lens. Being made in Germany, it is an expensive aftermarket hood. I got mine at B&H.

For stiff focus on a Sumartar, I put some Ronsonal lighter fluid on a Q Tip and ran it around the opening. Be very sparing. It could run. It seems to have loosened the grease and has been ok for a decade.

Lens is not low contrast, it is low color saturation . Almost any haze inside screws up a Leica lens.

I also had summicron collapsible, but M that had stiff movements, sold it and bought LTM version that was just after Yuxin CLA. (buying new was easier than sending it overseas for CLA from Russia to USA).
Now i shoot at freezing temperatures easily (-15 degrees celsius).
