summicron 50 close focus on a M7

Has anyone experienced problems with a summicron 50 close-focus on a M7?
I have used it for years without trouble on both a M2 and M6, but on the M7 I just bought the focus ring (the higher rim that is used when focussing close objects) seems to touch the light meter at the 10 meters focus range. On the M6 it slides neatly in front of it without touching, but on the M7 I can't focus infinite without feeling serious resistance.

I've got the Summicron 50 on my M7 50% of the time, and I've never experienced such a thing. From the attached picture, though, that looks a little frightening!

No such problem on my M7 + 50 Summicron...

The only advice given is to mount and dismount at infinity.
